Editorial Guidelines

These are the rules our team — engineers, editors, and contributors — commits to. They exist so readers can trust what they see.

1. Independence

We do not accept payment, sponsorship, free products, or any other compensation in exchange for inclusion, ranking, or favorable coverage. Where affiliate links exist, they do not affect ranking order or product selection. See How We Rank for the full factor list.

2. AI disclosure

We use large language models to normalize product names, extract attributes from raw listings, deduplicate variants, and assist with taxonomy. AI is a tool — not an oracle. Ranking math is deterministic and auditable. AI-generated text on landing pages is clearly bounded to category descriptions and never used to fabricate specifications, prices, or reviews.

3. Conflict of interest

Team members must disclose any financial relationship with a brand whose products appear on Picky.expert. Anyone with a material conflict is recused from work affecting that brand's category.

4. Source verification

Specifications come from manufacturer documentation and verified seller listings. When sources disagree, we flag the conflict rather than silently pick one. Prices are refreshed continuously and labeled with the seller they came from.

5. Community contributions

Anyone can suggest edits or report inaccuracies via the in-product Suggest Edit and Report buttons on a product page. Every suggestion is reviewed against the source it cites before being merged. We publicly credit accepted contributors on the contributors page.

6. Corrections policy

If we publish something inaccurate, we correct it as soon as we can verify the correction. Material corrections to a comparison or ranking page are logged on the recent changes page so the edit history is visible to readers.
